Great Housesit!

We had a great time Housesitting for Janice and Bill.  They are both very genuine and caring people.  We arrived a day early and they not only showed us everything we needed to know around the house, but took us on a tour of the town and gave us a lot of insider information to make the most of our stay.  Additionally, they put together a comprehensive welcome guide with all the information a sitter would need.  Their home is very comfortable with every  convenience and the neighborhood is very walkable.  Also, it is a very short drive to many great restaurants and beautiful beaches.  However, the best part of the trip was caring for sweet Frisco!  She is a delight, very intelligent, playful, yet laid-back.  We miss her already and hope to have an opportunity to sit with her again.

Housesit in Basel from 01 June to 23 Aug 2023

Susan & Bill are well travelled, kind, caring and highly reliable house sitters with many years of experience, and we can highly recommend their services.

Susan was a prompt communicator from the moment she reached out to apply for our housesit in Basel, Switzerland. Susan & Bill arrived a day earlier so that our daughter could introduce them to our dog, Alaska, and our 2 cats, Ash and Raven, as well as showing them different spots to walk Alaska and to demonstrate the feeding routines and the apartment appliances.

While we were away for nearly 3 months, Susan and I communicated frequently via WhatsApp. I checked in with her occasionally, and she shared photos of our pets and reached out early if she had any issues (e.g. dry dog food running out sooner than expected). She also sent photos of our postal mail to make sure nothing required action.

Alaska was spoiled by them while were away, swimming in the river and coming home absolutely exhausted. Susan & Bill even took Alaska to Germany upon my request to avoid the Swiss National Day fireworks happening right outside our apartment. When one of our cats mysteriously disappeared for 12 days, Susan & Bill did everything they could, putting up missing cat posters, knocking on neighbors' doors, roaming the streets and next door gardens trying to lure him out with food. He eventually returned by himself and we were all so relieved!

Our apartment and plants were also well taken care of during our absence and Susan & Bill left everything in working order and clean.

Susan & Bill stayed a day longer so that we could see each other before their departure to tell us stories of their experiences while we were away.

We would definitely love to have them back if they ever want to visit Basel again!

An unforgettable experience!  First, Alaska, the dog, is a well trained, smart, energetic, fun and easy dog to look after. She became our pal. The cats, Ash and Raven, are beautiful and warm. They love to be brushed and have a great set up.

The location couldn't be better. You can walk the town, walk to public transport, and bike to Germany and France. Apartment is on the Rhine and always bustling. We could go on and on.

The owners are gracious, warm and friendly. We didn't have much time with them but would definitely do this sit again.
 

Awesome Housesitter

Sheila was such a great house sitter. Our pets loved her and her dog Minty. I felt so relieved not to have to worry about things while gone.

Best sit ever!

Judy has a lovely home with miles of hiking trails right out the front door. Her house is so well appointed and has really good energy. The hot tub was certainly appreciated after long mountain walks. I felt like I should be paying to stay there!

Romeo is a very cool big dog with a playful attitude and sense of humor. He and my dog quickly became best friends...We miss him.
 

It was a delightful sit/house/pet/hostess. 100% recommended!
 

Most enjoyable sit!

A lovely home and garden ( I enjoyed the hot tub ) in a great location, only a few minutes walk to the hiking trails of the Sandia foothills. Also a neighborhood park right around the corner.

Calypso is an affectionate, well behaved dog. Always ready to play or go for walks. Well socialized and friendly towards other dogs. I had my dog along and they were best buddies in no time. Merlin, the black cat, is a cool cat. Just make sure the back patio door is tightly closed as he somehow knows how to get it open. It's a heavy door and he has little paws but he has a ton of perseverance. 
 

Finally, the mattress I slept on was probably the most comfortable I've ever used. 

Rural Housesit

We live in rural Virginia on 22 acres and were fortunate to be able to have the RetiredHippies housesit for us on a recent trip.  The communication was great even with an original large time difference. They took good care of our property and our neglected flowers looked better on our return than when we left! They were even able to fix a couple of electrical issues we had.  We also have a challenging rescue dog that was not supposed to be a part of the original housesit but they opened their arms to our little misfit even after she snuck in a hurtful nip at their legs! Their little Fifl was perfect with our “grumpy old lady of a dog” playing with her when she wanted and respecting her boundaries when she didn’t.

Unfortunately, our trip had to be cut in half due to covid and they were gracious and understanding when we had to cancel our vacation and return home early.  We hope to use them again for future trips and highly recommend them.

Charming Armidale House Sit

The month of August in Australia was wonderful with the Home very nice and close to everything and the city charming.  The cats were no problems and were very friendly.  Great people and great experience!

Punta Gorda Dog Sit

I was looking for a housesit across country when I saw this couple's urgent request to replace a cancelled sitter.  I reached out and we immediately commenced talking.  We settled on the dates and I soon arrived to meet two large, energetic pups: Buddy and Cooper.  In less than twentyfour hours Warren and Nancy departed on vacation and the dogs were in my care.  They both enjoyed lots of attention and we quickly worked out routines that kept us occupied all day.  Both dogs were playful and engaging during the day and surprisingly well-trained and easy to put to bed at night.  I had a comfortable bed in a spacious home with a large, private back yard and nice pool to enjoy in this year's record breaking headwave.  The couple went all out by providing plenty of food for me and a wide assortment of treats for the dogs.  Our communication was good and any questions that came up were quickly answered.  Fortunately we experienced no big problems during this time. 

If you can handle the love and energy of two large, playful pups, then you won't find a better pair than Buddy and Cooper.  Nancy and Warren were greats hosts and I happily recommend future sitters be comfortable and confident in working with this family. 

Superb Housesitter!

Bogerph was such a fantastic housesitter, I can't imagine that our animals and the house could have been better cared for while we were travelling overseas. He certainly has a magical touch with animals - our cats fell in love with him!

He was reliable, relaxed and friendly, responsible and left the house incredibly clean on our return (mind you, as we were travelling in India, perhaps we simply forgot how clean places can be). Bogerph also linked up with some of our neighbours and friends in town that we put him in touch with, who delighted in his company.

We could not have been more satisfied with his housesitting, and can highly recommend him to anyone looking to engage him for house and pet care.

I had an amazing experience staying here in New Mexico

The house is amazing and large.  The 2 dogs were lovely - we so enjoyed our daily walks.  The elderly cat was calm cool and loving.  |Home owner was very pleaseant to me.   I thoroughly enjoyed my stay within their home and community.  I did alot of hiking and participated in so much community events.  Christmas Eve in Santa Fe - doing the walk in central town area is a must!!!  The home owner has a meal plan for the animals that requires prep time for sure prior to the house sit.  Overall experience was very nice and I hope to experince New Mexico again. 

Sweet, Easy Going Pups and Great Location

My stay with Bella, Robbie, Molly and Pepper was for one month and I loved the location looking out on the ocean, sitting out on the front patio and reading, and walking down to the shops in the area.  The pups were very easy to take care of in terms of some just wanting some cuddles but also others being more self-sufficient and happy just to putter about the house.  The cleaner came and ket things tidy, though at times the pups had some accidents indoors and there was some cleanup for that to take care of.  Karen was very good at replying and checking in, keeping me informed when anyone would be stopping by (assistants, gardner, etc).   Easy stay and adorable dogs.

First, communication all the way around was very clear and timely.  The set up for the animals are convienent and easy! The dogs are so special. Lexi the shephard is just amazing; smart, obedient, sweet and your best pal, and a big baby. Just love her. Ronnie, is a small little happy go lucky ,easy going dog who just likes to hang out and be loved on. The cats are funny with the routine and warm up quickly. Chickens, (which we never took care of before )are super easy.Feed them twice, collect eggs, and they put themselves to bed and you just shut the doors. The dogs go with and Lexi gets excited because she knows you'll be throwing a stick for her.

The house is comfortable and well appointed. The front patio is just lovely and the views are hard to beat. Hanging at the house with the pets are enjoyable. Theprivacy is pretty great too.

The waters...just stunning. Blue green waters, clear and perfect. Beaches everywhere and the sunsets are just wow. We got there a couple days ahead of time to get the routine. Seems like a lot to do but it is organized and you get into an easy routine quickly.

Back to Sara and John...John will keep you laughing and they both are stratight to the point. They are easy going, kind, just easy to know and we are now friends. And for me, after being in their home and taking care of all the four and 2 leggeds, their family.

Just go, and you'll really get a feel for what true Greek living is like!

Beautiful & Cozy Haarlem

We had an amazing time in Haarlem and surrounding areas, staying at Marusha & Pablo’s place! Their cozy apartment is located about 20 minutes of walking time from the historical center of the city. Marusha & Pablo were very generous by making everything (including their garden & bikes) available to us in their place and are very easy going individuals. Communication was great and although we did not have a chance to meet face to face, they felt like an extended family. Their sweet cat, Bruce, was very easy to take care of and almost took care of himself.

The location is excellent, with nearby (3 minute walk) supermarket, bakery, farm market and bus stop. Transportation within and out of the city is fantastic, but mostly we walked – you can pretty much get to anywhere within the town in 30 minutes or less and it was wonderful to get the local feel of the place. Haarlem is truly a beautiful, old historical town, wonderful people and atmosphere – a jewel of a city. Amsterdam is a quick 15 minute train ride away, as well as Zandvoort beach and Zuid National Park.

Overall, we loved our cat and house sit and are grateful to our hosts for this opportunity!

Best experience ever

It was our first time using housesitters for our cat while we were on holiday and i am a big fan. Vlad and Inna were so amazing that we wish to had them over every time :) The house and our garden looked great when we returned and our cat was happy and content. Lovely people that kept us up to date how things are going and took care of everything that was needed so we could enjoy our vacation with no worries. Inna even knitted super nice things for our kids and made them super happy when we returned. Thank you guys and sweet greetings from Bruce!

Like a resort vacation

It was delightful to sit for Colleen and Cuddles. Their home is spotless, cool (even in the Florida summer) and beautiful. There is a large screened patio for that indoor-outdoor feel and a huge backyard perfect for 'grounding' from walking barefoot in the grass. There is also a nice swimming pool on site and the house is near the Florida beaches. Colleen left clear instructions, stayed in contact throughout her trip and became a new friend. Cuddles takes a little time to warm up, but then lives up to his name. He is independent, but likes to hang around you and loves it when you come spend some time in 'his yard.' I had a wonderful time and would return again.

Andrea was great!

Andrea stayed at our house in North Vancouver in April 2023 and took care of our whoodle dog, Lucy.  Andrea did a great job of taking care of Lucy and our house was very clean upon our return from one month away.  Andrea took out the garbage every week and walked Lucy every day.  We would recommend Andrea.  

Debbie did awesome job

Debbie has cared for Shanti and our home several times now. Shanti greets her ver happily every time he sees her, because they have such a great rapport. Debbie takes him hiking, and gives him lots of attention and great care. The house is always in good order when we come back. Debbie is very friendly and communicative, so if question arises on either end, we either text or talk immediately. Shanti and the house have been in great hands with Debbie. She has her cat Gandalf, but is careful to keep the two separated. She has a whole system for traveling with Gandalf which makes it easy. We really appreciate Debbie's care!

Warren review

Warren has been an excellent housesitter. He worked diligently in negotiating the conditions on which we agreed he would house-sit and has been extremely flexible when, due to unforeseen circumstances, we did not set off on our trip on time.

We have therefore spent quite some time with him and can confirm that he is a genuinely nice, pleasant, humourous person who has been empathic and accommodating to our changing needs, is prepared to ask questions to aid his own understanding, both in person before we left and remotely by text afterwards, and has carried out responsibilities, like putting out bins, dealing with the mail effectively, as well as welcoming new tenants into the building as required.

He has made friends quickly with our neighbours and friends, and therefore has been built up a support network for himself, both socially and in terms of dealing with any difficulties with our home, should they arise. 

We would certainly recommend Warren to other housesitters.

She was the best first housesit I could ask for!

LibraLiterati was my first housesitter ever on this platform, and I couldn't have asked for a better introduction to this community. She was prompt in responding, did an amazing job watching our cat over the 3 weeks she stayed in our house, and even cleaned up and left the house just as we brought her into it. She was thorough in asking questions that I hadn't preemptively laid out for her, and I would have her come housesit for us again in a heartbeat. Even over dinner, she made an excellent conversationalist, discussing all sorts of topics from the housing market to American history. I wish her the best of luck with all her travels, and would strongly recommend her as a housesitter wherever you are in the world! 

Jewel of Langkawi

David and Laurie are wonderful hosts/home owners, they made our transition into looking after their home and pets very easy. They were very thorough in their instructions and spent a lot of time showing us around thier island paradise. They introduced us to their friends and neighbours.

The hosue is beautiful with a pool siutated right in the middle. We used the pool daily as it was very hot and it was easy to maintain. The home is open and has a well apointed kitchen. Though we did not cook very often as the restaurants and food stalls were in abundance in the area. 

The property is very large, we spent a good many hours picking up tree fall, raking leaves and mowing the grass. This was enjoyable as it gave us something to do. 

The pets were delightful. BD, girl, very friendly and loves everyone and HobNob, boy, also friendly though could be unpredictable at times. We became good friends and they were no trouble at all.

David and Laurie left us with a car and electric bikes which we appreciated so much. They were available for answering questions at any time.

I recommend this house sit, we will definately like to be considered to do it again in the future.

Excellent House/Cat Sitter

Kathryn was great. Extremely neat, lovely with the kitty, respectful of our place. I felt very comfortable having her stay at our home. She took advantage of the excellent hiking we have in our area, hiking many places I haven't even gotten to yet! She even took excellent care of my sourdough starter. Jinny did 'n fabulous job of caring for our German Shepherd and two cats.  No matter what the weather here in Texas in June and July, she walked, fed, and loved on our kids as if her own.  She gave us updates and photos throughout the stay.  She even let our cats sit on her lap - something they don't readily do with us....

The garden was watered and the plants were gorgeous.

I found the utensils beautifully organized and everything was cleaned and well maintained when we returned.

I will advise you to accept a sit from Jinny as she really cares.
